I SO WISH they had recorded the entire Rodelinda. And Giulio Cesare. Alcina. Ariodante. Okay, Ruggiero and Ariodante may be too high for la Stutzmann. But even as Bradamante and Polinesso, she would’ve been GREAT. I recently met Maestro Stutzmann in person, at the Met , after her Don Giovanni. That makes wonder: just how PETITE la Devia really IS?! (Unfortunately I’ve never seen her in person. <sigh> STILL, one of my VERY FAVORITE DIVAS!!!)

La Signora Devia e' una cantatrice umile e regale, che esprime una misura classica frutto della tradizione italiana. Altre hanno e hanno avuto voci più fascinose, senz'altro, ma, come ha gia' detto qualcuno in un commento, la sua infonde pace. Chi la trova noiosa gallina o fa inutili paragoni, be', non stia a guardare i suoi video. Brava, Maestra e grazie di cuore
Nessuna cantante (renata tebaldi esclusa) ha tutte "note belle" nella propria estensione vocale, non la callas, non la caballe, né tantomeno la sutherland (gruberova nn ha proprio una voce migliore oltre a sparire completamente nel confronto vocale con Mariella). Le note di mariella che vanno dal mezzoforte al sovracuto oltre che tecnicamente perfette "suonano" anche in maniera sublime, di una purezza ed incisività immacolate che nessuna riesce a cui nessuna si riesce sd avvicinare.

devia is better , by far, than Rona. The Rona's voice need more open pharynx, chiaroscuro and squillo. Rona's technique is more a pop lyric adaptation of "traditional technique"

Esecuzione perfetta ma che non concede nulla al pubblico. Nella cadenza finale mi aspettavo che sviluppasse ulteriormente quella già sublime della Sutherland....peccato.
Una (la devia) ha gusto, l'altra (la mascellona) no. Sostanziale differenza.

Wonderful voice and talent! Glorious singing! But don't we all have our favourites? For me Joan Sutherland is superlative -- she has a warmer, rounder sound. But I should say that the artistry shown by both (agility of voice) is comparable.
Ricordate...questo tipo di canto non sara' piu' possibile!...i cantanti di oggi non sanno piu' cosa e' la tecnica e lo studio, lo stile. Chi considera Mariella Devia una cantante fredda ..illusi!

Ella es una extraordinaria soprano bel cantista pero tiene ciertas dificultades en la coloratura. No es muy ágil en esa parte. Pero en el drama en cambio no hay quién la iguale.
Mariella Devia nunca ha tenido ninguna dificultad para colorear y hay muchos ejemplos aquí en youtube. El tiempo de la coloratura (si no lo sabes) es lento porque ES EL CONDUCTOR EL QUE DA ESTE TIEMPO !!!! Cantar en este tempo lento es mucho más difícil y, a pesar de esto, esta interpretación es perfecta. Замечательно поют дуэтом где никто не выделяется. Штутцман и до сих пор поёт и дирижирует в стиле Барокко и это Ее стиль. Даже в одежде.
